La Diga D’ Itaipu.
Il Bacino, risulta dalla raccolta delle acque del fiume Paraná, e i suoi afluenti che riforniscono l’idroelettrica e bagna 15 comuni. L’idroelettrica appartiene al Brasile e al Paraguai. Ci sono visite monitorate che portano i turisti a conoscere le sue installazioni esterne, la diga e il belvedere, con una bella veduta sull’enorme cortina d’acqua. L’idroelettrica di Itaipu, che detiene il primato mondiale nella generazione di energia elettrica, è stata considerata dalla Società Americana per l’Ingegneria Civile come una delle sette meraviglie del mondo moderno. Il Lago de Itaipu offre diverse attrazioni come spiagge artificiali, imbarcazioni per le gite esportive, e molte altre modalità.


The largest hydroelectric dam in the whole world impresses by its numbers and dimensions. 17 years were needed to finish the construction working at full swing. In its peak it got to employ around 40.000 workers.
Itaipu is made up of an 8-km dam with twenty 700.000-kw generating turbines that sum up 14 mw of installed power and produce 76 billons of kw/h/year. It supplies with energy ten Brazilian States, including the Federal District, and accounts for 25% of the power generated in Brazil and 90% of the Paraguayan demand.Around the lake created by the impoundment from the dam there are several projects for the environmental development, biological reserves and advanced programs on agrarian development and fish production.The tour begins at the Visitor Center where tourists have the opportunity to watch a documentary video accounting the history of the dam. Immediately after, they will visit the main lookout point, to behold the magnificent spillway and its show of waters (when open) and as well the panoramic outline of the dam.
The trip lasts 1 and half hours and can be done also on wheelchair.


La mayor usina hidroeléctrica del mundoimpresiona por sus números y grandiosidad. Fueron necesarios 17 años para la conclusión de las obras, que en su auge llegó a emplear cerca de 40.000 operarios. Itaipú está constituida por un dique de 8 km de extensión con 20 turbinas generadoras de 700.000 (kw) cada una, sumando 14 mw de potencia instalada, produciendo 76 billones de kw/h/año. Abastece a diez estados brasileños inclusive el Distrito Federal, además de Paraguay. La usina produce cerca de 25% de la energía generada en Brasil y 90% de la energía eléctrica consumida en Paraguay.En el entorno del lago generado por la represa existen varios proyectos de desarrollo ambiental, refugios biológicos y programas avanzados de desarrollo agrícola y piscicultura. El paseo tiene inicio en el centro de recepción a los visitantes donde es posible ver un video explicativo sobre la usina. Inmediatamente después se visita el mirador panorámico principal, desde donde se observa el vertedero y se contempla un impresionante espectáculo de aguas (cuando está abierto) y también un panorama general de la usina.
La duración del paseo es de 1 hora y media y puede ser realizado con silla de ruedas.
